My name is Tasneem Abdur-Rashid and I’m a British Bengali writer born and raised in north London. I’m also a mum and I spend my days juggling my day job, raising my children and writing stories about underrepresented communities.
Before I started writing books, I worked in media, PR and communications for over 15 years, in the UK and in the Middle East. I have a BA and MA in Creative Writing, and my debut rom-com, Finding Mr Perfectly Fine, was published by Bonnier/Zaffre in July 2022 as part of a two-book publishing deal.

Back in 2011, I was the anonymous writer behind the bestselling novel Desperate in Dubai, published by Penguin Random House India, which was inspired by my time there. My most recent book, The Thirty Before Thirty List, was published in July 2024 and I have a Young Adult book due for publication in 2025!
I’m also the co-host of the award-winning podcast, Not Another Mum Pod, which empowers women who feel voiceless with a platform to share their stories. In 2023, I won the coveted SHE Awards award for Arts and Culture 2023 for my commitment towards bringing underrepresented voices to the fore.
When I’m not writing or you can find me cooking, eating, or talking about what to cook and eat. I come from a big, fat Bengali family, and I love hosting and entertaining. Watch this space for a cookbook one day!
