After a little hiatus I’m finally back and attending my first festival this year courtesy of Faversham Literature Festival!! And the best part? I’ll be talking to my dear friend and mentor @maggie__brookes . Maggie was my tutor during my BA and has been an absolute rock throughout my writing journey, and sharing a stage with her is going to be a dream come true!

Fun fact – I worked for Haringey Libraries once upon a time and we used to hold the odd author event. I remember helping my manager organise one, and then attending and listening to the author in awe, never once imagining that there would come a time when I would be invited to events myself!
Yet somehow, here I am… almost two decades later, living out my dream of writing books that people actually read and then talking about them!!! I still can’t believe that I do stuff like this now

British Bangladeshis : Stories, Histories and Tales – Sat 23 November, 2:30-3:30 at the Idea Store in Whitechapel
I’m SO EXCITED to share that due to our event at Tower Hamlets Council a few months ago being a massive hit, the Council has invited Dr Fatima Rajina and me to take part in WriteIdea – a wonderful series of events hosted by a diverse range of authors and writers at the Idea Store in Whitechapel.
Fatima and I had a blast at the last event, as we candidly explored what it means to be Bengali writers, women, our experiences, challenges, triumphs and frustrations… obviously we accidentally slipped in the odd Bengali and Sylheti word, because being in Tower Hamlets has that effect on me!
If you’re free on Saturday November 23 from 2:30 – 3:30pm – please stop by! I can guarantee that you’ll have a great time (no pressure Fatima!!!) You might even see us in sarees, so wear yours!
